bar 1AWS is much more than just an acting class.  It is a community of professionals – training, personal coaching, performing, and networking.  In addition to your small, intimate, acting class with personalized coaching for your specific needs, included are a number of additional workshops. You now have the opportunity to attend up to 4 classes each week for the same monthly tuition.

1.      HOME CLASS – Your weekly small intimate acting class – personalized coaching in a class setting that requires prepared work and assignments. Working on your specific needs through the AWS technique, which includes the teachings of Meisner, Strasberg, Hagen, and Adler.

2.      OPEN WORKOUTS – A weekly bonus class where you get to work with the other coaches and other members of AWS in an intense repetition class

3.      PRO ACTORS LAB – A weekly workout with material. Exercises to get the script off the page and into your body. Essential for great auditioning.

4.      WRITERS GROUP – Writers and actors get together to develop, create, and workshop material with the aim of putting on productions here on our AWS stage.

This is your chance to practice material! Rehearse your auditions, practice cold reading, and enhance your improv skills.

This is different from our regular acting classes. These are a series of fun exercises in freedom to be fully open, alive, powerful, grounded and electric in every audition to light up a room with your skill.

He is also repped by the top management company in the world: UNTITLED ENTERTAINMENT. “This is not a method or style that will confuse you.  It is based on principals of how to make an audition or scripted material as loose and free as an improv with the most exciting choices. It’s fun, easy and effortless and casting will love and remember you and keep calling you back.”

**If you are a member of AWS, you may attend once a week as part of your curriculum.** If you are not currently enrolled in acting class at AWS, each class is $25. Email to sign up.

bar 3We are committed to having bonus repetition classes every week. Classes are scheduled and actors can sign up online. Classes are taught by Fran, Andrew, Irene, and Rickie. So you have the chance to get notes from 4 different voices and work with other members of the studio every week.
**These classes are free for all AWS members.**

bar 5I am looking for a Set Designer and a Lighting Tech Person. If you know someone, let them know and contact us. This could be a great work study situation for the right person.
bar 6We post pictures, update what’s happening, and provide some wisdom and information for actors.

bar 7The NoHo Arts District blog just published my article for July. I used a recent class experience to illustrate the importance of living fully in your character’s every moment. Check it out!
bar 8Cristina Cox sent this to me and I think it’s worth a read again. I put it in the last newsletter but thought it’s worth repeating in case you didn’t get to read it then. We have this conversation frequently in class, especially when actors feel like they are losing touch with their passion, or in a state of helplessness.

I like to believe that AWS offers these opportunities for many actors.

Have a great summer!

bar 10“We are in the business of transforming actors’ lives, one at a time. This involves each actor getting individualized coaching, where we work to break through their specific issues, by taking them “through” their blocks to the next level. That is why we keep our classes small and focus on each actor’s individuality, talent, and uniqueness. Here, they discover what makes them different than the rest, hence their “Vein of Gold”. We are proud that this is what makes the Actors Workout Studio different and more distinct than many schools around town.”
